A wonderful day

My name is Yacine. I am fifteen and I live in Oran. I have studied English for four years. Last summer, I visited my uncle in Tlemcen. We went to the Lalla Setti plateau and we had a picnic with my cousins. It was a wonderful day. I have never seen such a beautiful view! Next year, I will take the BEM exam, so I am working hard.

Part One (14 points)

A. Reading comprehension (7 points)

  1. Are these statements true or false? Correct the false ones.
    a) Yacine lives in Tlemcen.   b) He has studied English for four years.
  2. Answer the questions: a) Where did Yacine go last summer?   b) What will he do next year?
  3. Find in the text words that are opposite in meaning to: ugly ≠ ......   lazily ≠ ......

B. Mastery of language (7 points)

  1. Put the verbs between brackets in the correct tense:
    a) I (visit) Algiers last year.   b) She (never/travel) by plane.   c) Look! They (play) football now.
  2. Classify the words according to the pronunciation of the final "-ed": visited — played — worked — watched.
